Grand Opening of the Ocean Pier and Casino

Date in History:

11 Jun 1925

1925 – The Ocean Pier and Casino at Daytona Beach opened its doors on this date. One of the most recognizable features on one Florida’s most popular beaches, the Ocean Pier, built in 1925, replaced an earlier structure known as Keating Pier which was constructed in the late 19th century. After a devastating fire in 1920, Jeter McMillan built the new casino. Over the years the pier has hosted thousands of charity balls, dances, civic events, weddings, and beach goers from around the world. It was renovated most recently in 2012 and is currently owned by the City of Daytona Beach.
