Walt Belcher Bio: After nearly 35 years as a reporter for The Tampa Tribune, Walt Belcher is still sharing stories. He has become a champion teller of tall tales, a winner of story slams, and the host of storytelling events in Florida and throughout the South. He is on the board of directors of the Florida Storytelling Association and the Suncoast Storytellers Inc., of St. Petersburg.
Walt lives in Safety Harbor where he hosts a monthly storytelling night at the Safety Harbor Art and Music Center. He has been a “showcase teller” at three Florida Storytelling Festivals. He regularly shares stories at the Barberville Pioneer Settlement as well as the Suncoast Storytellers monthly story swap. Among his stories are tales about Florida’s most infamous cowman of the late 1800s, Bonaparte Mizell.
