The Spanish Presidio
The Spanish presidio on SAtaqna Rosa Island in 1743. Spain regained the town of Pensacola from the French in 1722, but the Frenchmen burned the town before they departed. Spain rebuilt on Santa Rosa Island, and the Presidio Isla de Santa Rosa stood until a hurricane wrecked havoc on the settlement in 1752, forcing the Spanards to return once more to the mainland.
